Structural Decking

SpeedDeck’s VT Structural Roof Decking and VK Structural Tray ranges offer the designer a long span solution reducing the amount of structural frame whether steel frame or timber frame or glulam beams, providing an uncluttered, clean internal finish to any roofing system in an vast array of design solutions such as waveform, curved barrel vaulted, convex, concave and ‘hockey stick’ complex shapes and simple low pitch flat roofing solutions.
Perforations can be included into the structural deck or structural tray to absorb the sound and reduce the internal sound reverberation in buildings such as schools, leisure centres, swimming pools and arenas.
Using a structural roof decking or structural tray from rafter to rafter can remove the requirement entirely for using unsightly cold rolled purlins or rails on projects where the interior of the roof or wall system is internally exposed such as leisure centres, swimming pools or automotive retail showrooms. The long span structural deck is the mechanism by which the design loads from the roof are transferred into the structural frame and provides lateral restraint to the structural frame. Stress Skin or diaphragm action design can be engineered in to the structural decking or tray design to replace most of the in plane roof bracing.
Structural decking and tray solutions can be used with a myriad of differing roof systems from metal standing seam roof systems such as SpeedZip®, SpeedDeck®, and SpeedRoof®, Living Roof Green Roofing Solutions, to flat roofing systems such as Single Ply Membrane, 3 layered Felt, and Asphalt and the more traditional slating and tiling.
SpeedDeck’s VT Structural roof decking and VK Structural tray ranges boast some 18 differing profiles for all environments applications and design criteria, from the 32mm deep low profile shallow structural decks to the 205mm deep high profile or deep long span structural decking solutions for roof constructions, to the 90mm to 160mm deep trays in either 500mm or 600mm widths for wall constructions.
Both structural decks and trays are generally laid transverse to SpeedDeck's SpeedZip®, SpeedDeck® or SpeedRoof® standing seam and secret fix roof systems to eliminate the use of purlins / rails, but can be designed to be laid in line with the outer sheet reducing the amount of cold rolled supports, but not eliminating them.
Supplied in aluminium or steel and with a choice of gauges, colours, and finishes, SpeedDeck® VT Structural decking and VK Structural Tray metal roofing and cladding systems provide the perfect structural compliment to any of our roofing profiles enabling us to supply a single source roofing and cladding system reducing deliveries and carbon emissions, whilst still offering a 25 year single source system warrantee including workmanship by regularly independent auditing the installation of the roofing & cladding system onsite.
Both the VT Structural Decking & the VK Structural Trays can be used in both roof and wall constructions either spanning between the main rafters in the roof solution or between the main columns in the wall construction. However both structural decks and trays can be used in conjunction with purlins or rails to minimise the amount of cold rolled support depending on the loads imposed.
Although both products can be used in both roof and wall applications, structural decking is generally used on the roof and structural trays on the walls, depending on the outer roof or wall system.
Structural decking is trapezoidal or profiled in shape, whereas by comparison the structural tray has a lightly profield base and two raised flanges which provide its strength. The internal aesthetic of each system is different with the structural decking show the trapezoidal shape whereas the structural tray provides a flatter finish.
SpeedDeck's VT Structural Deck Range - Steel - use with Standing Seam and Secret Fix systems such as SpeedZip, SpeedDeck and SpeedRoof, and flat roofing systems such as single ply membranes, 3 layered felt, asphalt and hot melt systems.
